I asked the same question to Richard Schwinn at Waterford (formerly at Schwinn). I have a 50th Anniversary Edition Schwinn Paramount with gold decals and gold plated fork in candy apple red metallic and asked him if this was rare. He indicated that most of them were indeed black.
