The recent discussion about the venerable PX-10 made me poke thru my old Bicycling magazines, looking for the review of the PY-10. I found it along with a few other interesting articles. Since I had it out, I went ahead and scanned them, and Mark Bulgier has generously hosted them on his web site.

First, the review of the PY10 did not include a test-ride it seemed. Did Owen not ride one? Bummer. I had one of these, frame and fork only, long time ago. very tall and bent from damage, so I couldn't use it. But the the dubois lugs thereon appeared to have been popped on and brazed up with nary a file or sandpaper applied. However well the frame might have performed, the overall finish was so slipshod that it would have been painful to have the thing around. Just one man's opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it.

Second, did everybody see that *totally* sleazy ad for Windsor bikes on the second page of the PY10 review? Unbelievable. Those guys truly had solid bronze 'nads to run an ad like that. I am in awe; not only that they could run that ad, but that Bicycling! would have run that ad, considering that even then, everyone knew what had happened at the Hour Record. Sheesh. Makes me wanna go wash my hands, and I didn't even touch the damned thing. No wonder Ernesto wanted to slay someone over that. I would have felt the same.
