Your comment brings back my own memories of hanging out in my Uncle Tharald's blacksmith shop in North Dakota and helping him fix things like my bike and the neighbors' tractors. At 5 years old, I got a scrubbin' every time with gasoline (the best for coal grime) and I loved the tingle and shrivel. My aunt went crazy every time saying he'd etch me if he didn't kill me first. Alas, my wife has outlawed the practice in my own workshop and broke the tradition: I now use Simple Green and, even better, Nature's Orange on my bike parts!
