Too bad about Ray's experience. But vintage bike folks in general and CR folks in particular tend to be a special group that is typically very honest.

When I ran Bicycle Classics years ago, I would often send out parts before checks arrived, only had 3 bounced checks ever, and never had someone use a fake credit card number. All the stuff that usually drives most business crazy just never happened.

Yes, there are evil folks lurking on the fringes. That is why I believe that they should be outed (I have done so in the past on this list are you reading this Mr. Brian Todd?) with no mercy. Keeps it clean for the rest of us.

Of course many "bad" transactions are just communication issues or differing viewpoints so extreme discretion is advised in outing someone. But actual fraud - I'd like to know!

Anyway, hang in there cause while we may all drive each other a bit nuts at times, this is an exceptional group and its generally a lot safer within this group than outside it.
