Back when we were developing the original Trek bonded aluminum frame we did side by side comparisons of Columbus steel (Trek 970), Cannondale, Vitus, Klein (Gary Klein's personal bike in fact), and the Trek Al prototype. I liked the Vitus best myself and found the Cannondale and Klein hard to control on rough pavement.
