I only read the CR digest, so I don't know if my question has been addressed. What is a source for a SR seat binding bolt with an allen nut??? The seat on my SR post keeps slipping/tilting, so I've broken 2 bolts trying to lock it down. HELP . . . !!!

Michael Allison New York, NY Michael: The aluminum allen-head bolt will likely break at a lower torque than the steel one, so I wouldn't recommend that as a solution for you. Does your post have the washer under the head of the bolt? Some very early ones didn't have the washer, and some just get lost over the years. The washer helps prevent slippage. (Unfortunately, I don't have any, but make sure your post has one...). Also, just like one shouldn't grease cotterless crank spindle tapers, don't grease the post clamp faces where they fit onto the top of the post.... Grease is for bearings, and squeaky wheels!
