I've not used 52-36 but I'm using 49-34 with a campag racing front gear, probably late eighties and it works fine. Most racers use 53-39, 14 teeth jump, I don't think your extra two teeth will make any difference. In Frank Berto's book every racing changer that he tested with a 52-36 was rated either excellent or very good. Ray Green UK
