Also seat pin and seat pillar. Tyres are tires. And the trunk of a car is a boot to them, the windshield a windscreen etc. etc etc..

As Sir Winston said so famously, the Americans and the British are separated by a common language.

We Canadians fall (in several ways) somewhere in between.
