I just got my TDF Calendar from _www.bikekulture.com_
(http://www.bikekulture.com) . the front cover photo, which I can not find mentioned shows three
riders in what could be a 1948s TDF the front rider with #31 on his frame is
wearing Legnano letterd shorts, I would also assume that the bike is Legnano,
the brakes levers are to me interesting,Poss Mafac? also the clearance for the
front wheel, I have often wondered if they used 28" 27" or 700C in thoes
days??? looks like a Simplex chainring, cant see the gears could be Campag??
Cambio. Any one have any info on this, Huh Mick??? Re Mudguards,
(Fenders) my 1950 Mercian with track ends, has eyelets and is drilled for brakes
front and rear, NO pump pegs though, maybe they where removed when it was
resprayed, It looks VERY BARE without mudguards (Fenders!!) BUT with a Brooks
saddle bag and pump with strap on pegs, AND Mudguards, she?? is very attractive,
I also have a Legnano 1970 Olympic and a 1980 Cambio Rino, along with my
1950s Vittoria, none of which I feel would look correct with mudguards, maybe
it never rains in Italy!!! HaHa, John Crump Parker,Co.USA
