Another near-winner of the TdF, Morelli finished 2nd in 1935 behind Romain Maes. You may remember reference to him in one of the first Pic of the Day entrys, as the Belgians work to chase down a dangerous breakaway of Morelli and fellow Italian Orlando Teani:

According to dewielersite.net, Morelli (b. 4 December 1905, d. 10 October 2000) rode for Gloria (1929-30), Bianchi (1931-3), and Ganna (1935-6) (no team in 1934?). His victory list includes the 1929 Tre Valli Varese, 1929 Targa Legnano, 1929 Milano-Sestri, 1929 Coppa Pomini, 1929 Coppa Giombini, 1930 Tour of Umbria, 1930 Giro del Piemonte, 12th stage of the 1931 Giro d'Italia, 5th stage of the 1933 Tour of Catalonia, and the 16th and 20th stages of the 1935 Tour de France.

There is an annual "Morelli Day" race in Nerviano each spring. 500km/24hrs, one of those ultrasaddlesore events. You can find details at http://www.mvmitalia.it/ click on the "Morelli Day" icon in the upper left.
