Last summer I received a 56cm Colnago, sold to me as 60cm (grrrr) with all the panto stuff people have been talking about lately here. Thought in my boredom I'd type a few thoughts, uninformed and limited in experience though they may be.... 1) the campi brake levers are drilled with countersunk holes, and have 5 diamonds milled down the upper 1/2 of the lever front. These have convinced me that I prefer the smooth, unblemished appearance of levers that have remained untouched by machine tool or tarmac. 2) the Cinelli stem has a script "Colnago" on each side, not really signature-like, the Colnago club on either side corner by the headtube bolt, and the same 5 diamonds along the top. Oh, and a Colnago club centered above the handlebar clamp bolt (nutted.) Again, I have to say I prefer the smooth unblemished lines of an untouched Cinelli stem. 3) The seatpost has the milled slots around the diameter, lengthwise. Interestingly, only three diamonds are machined into the corresponding drive/non-drive side. These are filled in Italia flag colors, and theres a Colnago club on the front-facing surface up high also. This one doesn't seem to do anything one way or t'other, I guess it just goes with the "set"? 4) No modifications to the down-tube knobbly shifter levers. 5) Ambrosio 6-pin crank milled with the Colnago Ernesto on the arms etc etc with Italia color paint in the milled slots of each arm-lette.

I really wish the bike was the 60cm size I thought I was buying, and I am now torn between hanging onto the bits in hopes of oneday finding a pre-cast seatstaycaps frame in my size, or just unloading the damn thing. It was really disappointing to me to wind up with something I couldn't ride and no recourse with the seller (figgers) e-bay (not surprising, or paypal (disappointing.) But I digress, my basic "read" an panto stuff? "OK, I guess", but thats just me. The interest is somewhat lost on me, and Shakesperean (i.e. Much Ado About Nothing") ... but then I still save the funny blue cardboard clips from new brakes and derailleurs (or iis it "changers"?)
