I've always used a method similar to Johnny P. but with a critical
difference. Instead of a razor blade I have a lovely old jack knife. The
kind with a softer blade that has blackened over the years. I have found
that this will not scratch chrome and have used it like this for several
restorations. Has to be the old high carbon type blade, though...not the
newer stainless ones that stay shiny. You can do some extremely fine work
with such a blade and the more you do it, the better you'll get at it.
Vintage bike...vintage blade, all within the CR timeline! Don't anybody
tell Dale, but I've used it on C Record stuff, too!
