James, the US Tufo contact and CR member, is out of the country right now competing in the World's Master Cyclocross Champs. Maybe he can answer your query when he returns in a week or so.
I can tell you the Tufo clincher is easy to install, easy to "patch" with the liquid sealer, and has a tough tread. I won't say it handles like a tubular, that might be a stretch.
