Sam,

My first choice would be a white or cream, if the purple has any hints of yellow. I might even go so far as to have the fork crown done in the same color. I would then line the lugs in silver (for a bluish white) or gold (cream). Another possibility is the champagne that was used on '70s-era Raleigh Internationals. That might be nice with a champagne head tube and a white seat panel with champagne banding above and below.

You could also do yellow, but you run the risk of being thought a LA Laker fanboy. :-)

What I probably wouldn't do is chose another metallic color for the head tube/seat panel.

I had though the head and seat panel were white---but the white is the undercoat. On close exam I found a small patch of silver metallic on the head tube.(I'm the third hand in this restoration and didn't get to see the bike till it was partial sanded).I know the post war English poly-chromatics can easily fool you as to their true color.Gold or silver would be my guess at this point. While this might be a trivial question, the color of the head/seat tube will also effect the color chose of the lining---so I would like any color hints/suggestions,late 50s similar color combinations ya'll might have. The frame is a 1955/58 Fothergill from Liverpool.
