Simon,

If the paint's original (usually a powder blue or red), is there a Derek Bailey signature near Derek's unique, tear-drop-shaped seat cluster, with the single allen bolt seatpost binder at the front? These were made '86-7 or so, w/ SLX at the very beginning, if memory serves me. The Turbo was Derek's 'signature' bike and Rocky's top road frame and corresponded to the "Thunderbolt", Rocky's top-of-the-line fillet-brazed MTB, also built by Derek and bearing his signature. The shop I worked in - Park'n'Pedal in Banff - brought the Turbo in Dura-Ace-equipped (6-spd rear, either freewheel or early freehub was available); I never saw a Campy-equipped model at that time although SR was an option. If the Athena is the original gruppo, count on a later date and the Turbo would be close to the last built by Derek - perhaps Rocky Mountain could give you a clue when he retired, which I gather was not too much later than the dates I've mentioned?
