Thought this might interest some folks.
Just opened a June 4, 1941 copy of Cycling which came in the post today.
There is a quote from an article by Hans Ohrt commenting on British made bikes (thus following several threads of recent weeks).
"Great people these Britishers ... their spendid bicycles have brought us more sport---one that is being utilized more and more for vacations, good-timing and healthful recreation and relaxation out in god's great outdoors...
The wise Britishers never let their gadget-minded boys design bicycles any more than we would take Junior to our aircraft plants and ask him to design our planes."
- and on the better and lighter British bicycle he wrote - "suddenly American makers realized that light cycles were popular and would sell. It looks now more than possible that we will again see millions on bicycles."
Not sure where the original article first appeared but it was titled "Britishers Bring Better Bicycles"!!
