Question 1 "Thin cups" were for the Record bottom bracket (1958-1967), "thick cups" were for the Nuovo Record (1967) and Super Record (1974) bottom brackets. You look at the edge of the axle hole to identify which it is. Also, no rifling in the Record cup; this was introduced with the Nuovo BB.

Question 2 This is noted in the Campagnolo Timeline <http://www.velo-retro.com/ tline.html>: "Also shown (in the '82 Olympic Catalog) is the "Super Record Road Steel group" also called "Super Record Reduced group" (SL pedals replacing the SR pedals and the NR bottom bracket replacing the SR bottom bracket)."

Ti axles were know to break with heavy use by Pros and consequently the steel Nuovo Record BB was spec'd with the Super Record group instead of the Super Record Ti BB. Same reason for the Ti pedals being replaced with the steel axle, black anodized cage Superleggera pedals in the "Super Record Road Steel group" or "Super Record Reduced group".
