I don't like to disagree too greatly with my colleague experts However, if I read Sheldon correctly he suggests that before Campy Road was 144 and not 151. Jump on me if I'm wrong. Well: In 1966 I was the coach and manager of the American World's team in Germany. Track at the Frankfurt Velodrome, Road on the Nuerburg Grand Prix course. The Campagnolo Tech Support was most generous and provided for FREE all of our team members' bicycles with the NEW, JUST OUT 144 bolt pattern cranksets, 42x54 chainring and NEW FRONT AND REAR DERAILLEURS!!. The Campy Boys put them on and adjusted the complete bikes. It helps to have friends in high places. My PERSONAL RICKERT road bike that I brought back after racing in Europe had 151 cranks, it was a '59 vintage and I used that set up until I retired the bike in the early '80's Chuck's timeline is not quite correct either, he says '68, I believe or '67 but I know what I know, been there, done that, rode that, and brought back brand new samples IN THE BOX that our club South Bay Wheelmen showed at our annual awards banquet in the fall of 1966 with the 144 new bolt pattern. I'm still riding my 151 and block chain on my old Rickert track machine. Any other Q's? Ted Ernst Palos Verdes Estates, Ca
