The change did not occur at the same time. Sutherland's 3rd Ediition , published in 1980, lists then-current Campy road as 144, then-current track and "old pre-1967" road as 151.

• The BCD for Record ROAD cranks changed to 144 BCD. • Record TRACK cranks ALSO were changed to 144 BCD • This happened for both cranksets at the same time.

1.) This "event" occurred sometime AFTER the printing of the Catalog #15, [the release date of which is not entirely clear], since this printing had still specified both Record cranksets at 151 BCD).

2.) It also took place AFTER release of Nuovo Record derailleurs was first announced (again in, Cat. #15).

3.) The change definitely happened at least by the release of Catalog #16,...

4.) But, the cranksets may have actually hit the marketplace some time earlier.

5.) This accounts for the simultaneous announced reduction in the smallest available ring size for Track set from 46t down to 44t,... and a comparable reduction in smallest available ring size for Road set from 44t to 42t. (both in Cat. #16)
