Subject: [CR]Dry Brooks saddle. What to do?

Hi:

I just picked up a 69 Raleigh Professional with the original Brooks Professional (with small rivets). It looks like the leather is pulling and cracking around the front rivets. It is not bad now, but I really have not sat on it for more than a few seconds. Should I try to moisturize it? If so, what should I use. Or should I pull it off and save it for historical preservation. The rest of the bike is original. I want to ride her, not just look at her. Any help would be great.
