Thanks for the nice complement on the Weigle. She's the most stable, best tracking bike I've ever owned. Not a squeak, peep or rattle even with fenders and racks. On descents she rides as if she's on a rail of my own making. Peter's bikes are just like him: full of class and totally without pretension.

On my long ride Friday, 135 miles, I averaged 89 RPM on the Weigle. On climbs I'm never below 90 and typically 95 to 115 depending on the grade. On the Raleigh, I averaged 78 RPM on a century Memorial Day weekend and would typically be at 80 to 95 rpm on the climbs. The Raleigh is set up 53/41 up front and 13/26 in back. The Weigle is 53/39 and 13/26. So I supposed the lower gears available on the Weigle may have something to do with the higher cadence along with the Ergo shifting. However, the 135 mile ride had many more and much steeper climbs than the century in May, including two 4 to 5 mile lung-busting, leg-cramping, out of the saddle fun-killers.

The 753 bikes I own (all Raleigh Teams) display their flexibility most dramatically during hard braking on descents. You can see the forks deflect what seem a couple of inches.

BTW, we were chased by upwards of 60 dogs on this ride including an incredibly athletic Pit Bull who maintained 30 to 35 MPH for nearly 1/2 mile. I would gladly consider any recommendations for fending off such beasts. As for mace or pepper spray, I'm afraid we would've surely run out after the first 50 miles unless we had packed multiple canisters. Maybe air horns?
