Dear Nathan ___ (?):

I am posting this response to the whole list not because you deserve a public whipping (!), but because all the members need to be reminded of the two basic areas in which you transgress in your posting:

- Most obvious (as seen in my salutation above) is that you do not use your first and last name and abbreviate your location. PLEASE folks sign off so that a newbie or a person not familiar with that which you assume can determine who & where you are writing from.

- Then you troll (albeit possibly innocently) for pricing and potential buyers. Let me quote the appropriate parts of the rules:

" 2. "For Sale" or "Wanted to Buy" postings for items in the CR on-topic timeline only (prior to 1983) or distinctly "Keeper of the Flame" (KOF, in a classic style. If unsure, ask the web master BEFORE posting such items). Items must always include a set price (no "best offer," "highest bidder" or " I am thinking about selling..." & thereby fishing for an offer). For Sale ads may be only be posted one time."

and

" 5. The CR list is for enthusiasts to share and appreciate their hobby, conversely it is NOT to be used to maximize the selling prices of vintage bikes or parts. "What is my X worth?" is an unwelcome question. Please search online auctions such as eBay for that information."

Everyone up to speed?

Once again, if this is all new to you, it might be smart to read those rules again:

Hello Listers,

I have a friend with a 1939 Schwinn Paramount 6-Day bike.

serial # P66

Original frame- repainted black by schwinn in 1975 (no original decals available)

Original schwinn cotter cranks, one inch pitch chain. Original schwinn adjustable (for and aft) stem and seatpost

Non-original pedal, hubs, rims and saddle

Current wheels- wood rims with late 30's vintage Durkopp high flange hubs.

Anyhow, he will be selling this bike soon. I have not seen one on ebay in recently ended auctions (unfortunately now they only show you very recently ended auctions).

If there is any market at all for these bikes does anyone have a suggestion on where to post it's sale info to find an appreciative new home?

Thank you, Nathan S.F. CA.
