Subject: [CR]Stuck eyelet screw - the correct thread

I have never seen so much discussion over a little screw, but I'm pleased the job went OK, and that is the way in which they often come out.

I note that the frame was of English origin, but I can't recall seeing the age. All English frames using English ends and dropouts, up to some time in the 1970s, used 2BA threads for the eyes. These are almost the same as 5mm, but a 5mm will be tight in a 2BA, and a 2BA slightly loose in a 5mm. More information on BA threading can be found on the British Horological Institute website at http://www.bhi.co.uk/hints/bathrd.htm .
