Subject: [CR]Trexlertown report

The first of the two high holy days of T-town are behind us. A lot of friendly old faces with weather that was unpredictible but turned out to be a very beautiful day in the end. This show is not like the velodrome show as lightweights are scarce but they do show up. Case in point, I saw Sam with 4 beautiful vintage Legnano's lined up like they were going to Sunday church in all their various colors. After spying something early in the morning (I mean early with flashlight in hand in the pouring rain)I came to find that several people had already beat me to the punch. Good news is that they did not pull the trigger by the end of the day so I had to. Now in my possession is a beautiful French blue Dilecta with a neat Stronglight triple crank, Mafac cantilevers, Jos front and rear lights with very French racks that wrap around the front light. Alloy partially hammered fenders, Ideale saddle and a an old style push pull Cyclo derailleur shifting a very wide range 5 cog set. As I said, nice French blue with cream pin striping and black lugs. Randonneur bars with an adjustable Major Taylor type stem and canvas front bag. Downside is that someone replaced the front derailleur with a more modern Suntour and it has Weinmann brake levers and rims laced to Campy Record hubs. Still has Wolber tires but now the research starts. I tried the CR list for French bikes and although Dilecta is listed there is no information to be had. No photos, links or data at all. I tried Sheldon Brown's list and the same thing. Any recommendations out there on how I can find information on the equipment that needs to bring this to original equipment? I will take some photos soon so you can see what I am talking about. Any advice from the group is welcomed off or on list. My guess is that this bike dates from the mid 50s to early 60s.
