Greetings all,

Just joined this little gang of old bike Gurus. (Hmmmm, that could be interperted a couple of ways)..LOL

I feel out of my depth here, so much knowledge, so many brands I never heard of, heck I didn't know the wheel had been invented by the time some of these bikes were made. I bow to you Keepers of the Frame, one and all.

A bit about myself....48 yrs old, rediscovered bike riding almost 2 years ago. I quit riding motorcycles after 25 years on the street, and found the two wheel habit would not go away. A Tri-athlete friend got me into riding and now I'm hooked. Riding and building. Just started out doing my own maintance...obviously a "gateway activity".

Then a project of building a modern mountain/urban assault bike. A minor dailiance with an early 80's Guerciotti (love that pantographing) and my steel addiction started. As most of you know, one is not enough, nor is two. Fighting the call of the handmade, lugged frame was pointless. I did put up a valiant struggle. Went Carbon with a Lance bike, nope, no soul. Found aluminum silly stiff and uncomfortable. Campy snuck into my life with the superior egronomics afforded by the 10 speed Ergo shifters. Then a Moulton Fuso took up residence in my stable, bringing C Record components to my attention. A NOS Colnago frame from the 80's arrived one day, needing assembly. Couldn't resist that poor old Marinoni on Ebay, it made a great "bang and thrash" bike. And the one bike I had all along, bought new in 1979, a Fuji Royale, has now been stripped of all diginty (and gears) and sports a single speed freewheel and moustache bars, a truly entertaining grocery getter.

This forumn does provide me with an example for my friends that think I've gone off the deep end. You all have it even worse than I do! "My name is Kevin, and I'm a bike junkie"...."Hi Kevin"

Cheers!
