Subject: [CR]For all California CR members--Mt. Baldy vintage ride--Saturday Nov. 11 2006

It's time again for the twice-yearly vintage ride up to Baldy village.

This is an extremely scenic ride through the wilderness above Glendora. Approximately 5000 feet of climbing in 22 miles. We ride up to Baldy Village, then straight down Baldy Road to lunch in Claremont. Glendora Mountain Road is no longer closed to traffic, but it is seldom-used, and might as well be closed, for all the cars on it...

It's an epic ride, about 55 miles round-trip, with lunch at the bottom of the hill, after the climb.

Carmen and I will be bringing up the rear on our tandem...just wait for us at Baldy Village, ok? Or at the bottom of the hill..

Meet at Pioneer Park at the corner of Dalton and Sierra Madre at 9:30am for departure at 10am. The entire ride takes about 5 hours, with lunch.

This is a beautiful ride. The climb is a challenge, but far from impossible. Just bring your low gears, and your patience, and lots of water, and some energy food, and you'll be fine.

This is a ride that's a hit with everyone who's done it... try it, you'll like it!

Let me know if you're coming, so we know who to expect.
