I t was a short notice ride that brought the four of us to

Fairfax, Cal if. The goal was a ride out thru west Marin (this was the

scene of a large turnout ride 2 years ago)The weather was absolutely

perfect, wa rm with no wind.

So we had Steve Meyer on his Bianchi Compe tizone, Greg Davis

on his Carlton Flyer,Eric Meddaugh on his Raleigh Competition and I on

my Bianchi SC.

Those survivors o f the previous ride remember the climb up

Whites hill, it seems to ge t steeper each time I ride it. We rode out

thru Rancho Nicasio and t hen around the reservoir (some how ,my nice

photo of the sun shining on the water was not in my camera) out to

Point Reyes Station for a nice stop at Bovine Bakery for a refresher.

The small coastal town wa s over flowing with cyclists, Motorcyclists and

tourists in general, all brought out by a glorious Indian summer day.

While we w ere there we had a couple admire our vintage bikes

and then we found out that they had a couple of MASIs at home (one 72

Italian and a Cal i) Steve was trying to get a deal done for the 49 CM

one and we will have to wait for the results.

As we had a 2PM lunch planne d we continued out to Inverness

to look for Great White sharks but on ly saw a Talbot Lago, not a fish

but a spectacular vintage car.

After our brief visit to Inverness we headed back to Samuel

P Taylor park for a fund raiser for local wetlands. Lunch was steamed

Mussels, Barbecued Oysters assorted chips and dip plus local Beer. Gr eg

took full advantage of the "all you can eat" until his plate disap peared.

We said bye to Steve as he was going to wait fo r his wife

to arrive and we headed back towards Fairfax just a few ea sy climbs away

Steve mentioned he thought we had ridd en 25 miles but

we covered more ground than we did last time and I kn ow it was probably

more like 40. Another day of riding in perfect wea ther.....................
