One of the reasons I never took to this marque is the silly name with its questionable pronunciation and all.

Masi is oh so much easier. Any idiot can say it. Ma-see. See?

I suppose for a non-Anglophone Raleigh may pose some problems. Imagine how the French of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" would say it. Dirty English kanigits.

Carlton is simpler, although the French might have an easier time with Carletonne, I bet.

And I once knew a lad who pronounced Peugeot as "pew-gee-ot" (soft g). Not a great name for a bicycle, or a car either.

Herse is another matter altogether, with its own morbid connotations. I'd prefer not to ride on one until it's absolutely necessary, and then I won't care a bit.

But that's something completely different, eh?
