I think the following may have been discussed before, but I'll mention it here. Note that the little "R" Registered Trademark symbol on Ray's blue Super head decal is filled with a yellow background, where my green Super (most likely 1974) has a clear (or no) background. Perhaps this is a fine subtlety of chronology?

I'm fairly certain you are right Charles, the Colnago club with the Colnago name below is the correct head tube decal for a 74 Super. My former super was purchased as a 72, but a several people on the list believed it to be a 74, or maybe a late 73, so I decided to split the difference and called it a 73. Anyway, this is what the head tube decal looks like for Supers from 72-74 and maybe 75 or 76:

I don't know when a Colnago bike was first ridden to a world championship victory, nor in what event, but it must have happened at least by the early 70's since the 72-74 Supers were sporting w/c stripe decals on seat tubes, as you can see in this same bike:

The decal consisting of the Colnago club backed by the w/c stripes definitely came sometime around 1978, give or take a year, Here is a shot of that decal on my 78 Mexico Oro:

As you can see, the w/c stripes were prominently located within the scheme, and yet Saronni would not go on to win the Road W/C Road Race until several years later in 82. So I'm wondering what the first w/c event was that Colnago won.

Also, If anyone has a Super known to be from 75, 76 or 77, it would be interesting to see if and how the decals changed.

This is the first I've heard of the flower/world-stripes badge being used any earlier than about 1978.

Does anyone know when the flower/stripes badge came in? Late 70s, right?
