I believe it has been posted here that the 41T Campy rings were originally made for tandem cranksets. Not sure if Campy ever made a tandem crankset with SR style rings.

I mentioned this before, but I got a "Super Record" 41 t chain ring off a fully pantographed Casati back in the 1980s. They machined off the inner ring of a 41 t Record chain ring when they did the pantographing on all the other parts for the bike.
