I also included my best take on what the BB markings are, but will list them here too. The bottom bracket is marked something like:

BRITISH GR23 00089 LS MADE

The word British is lettered in kind of an arc. The 00089 part is not in a straight line and not very clear. Those 5 characters look like they were stamped on by hand. The second 0 may not be a zero, it is kind of like the upper left half of the zero with a kind of backwards check mark in it. I am not positive about the 8 and the 9, but that is probably what they are.

A few people have commented that it looks like a BSA, but a definite ID has not yet been made.
