I just checked my 2 early '70s stainless-fender Gitanes. The MAFACs are both the usual attachment-- the mens fender is firmed up by rack fore and aft bolts, and the mixte has a vertical bolt thru the seatstay, but the MAFAC is on the lower mixte stay.
