Sometimes this qaundry crops up with some as minor as a transfer (decal). My winter project, a 1958 Raleigh RRA Moderne, started essentially as a frame with original chainset and headset. That's it. So I acquired the original spec'd components (except the stem and bars which I upgraded to GB). Now, this frame is in SUCH good condition as to be amazing. Lovingly cared from by the original owner (his dad worked for Raleigh for 40 years and had this custom made for him when he was a teenager).

But...

The downtube transfers, the classic Raleigh gold blocks, are worn and chipped. I have exact replacements in hand. But I think I am going to stick to the beat up originals. I like perfect. But prefer original.

As long as I am conflicted, I think I really am a collector of vintage lightweights!
