I checked out the Alcyon that we've all been speculating about...I don't know enough about bikes of that era to comment knowledgeably about it's authenticity, but I have an interesting tale about the seller. As I checked out the other goods offered by the lister (old Simplex, Normandy hubs, etc) I noticed something - even though the items offered were obviously all used (albeit in good shape), every listing claimed that the items were NOS. I e-mailed him, asking why he was describing used goods as "NOS". Within a few minutes, I received a reply ( in VERY fractured english) : "I thought all vintage parts were called NOS. I am not having a dishonesty, my job is policeman." He went on to thank me for explaining what NOS meant, and has apparently amended (most of) his listings. Perhaps he is a well-meaning newbie, perhaps there is something a little shady going on; who knows? But I do agree on one thing: That bike was a lot better looking, before it was "restored"!
