I don't believe the Crane GS is original. Or at least my Volare has a short cage Dura-Ace, not the GS.

I hate to see it go, but tuition comes first.
The Volare was made in Japan for Schwinn for model years 1977 and 1978. Some folks referred to them as the Japanese Paramount, but I
wouldnt. They were the top non-Paramount bike sold by Schwinn. The
frames are constructed of Reynolds 531 butted tubes, forks and stays.
The frame stays, headtube lugs, fork tips, and fork crown are chromed. They came in 21-, 23-, and 25-inch frames, measured along the seat tube from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the
top tube.
The Volare was equipped with 1st generation Shimano Dura-Ace components. The 1977 had a Shimano Crane GS rear derailleur, which is
the predecessor to Dura-Ace. The 1978 model had a Dura-Ace rear derailleur.
This bike is a 21-inch, resulting in a 52.5-cm seat tube measured center to center. The standover height is The bike components are original or correct, except for typical item like tires, bottom bracket, freewheel, chain, handlebar tape, saddle and brake lever hoods. The tires are Continental Super Sport 700x25C. If memory serves me correctly, the bottom bracket is a Sugino. The freewheel is
a Suntour Pro-Compe with hill-friendly 28-24-20-17-14 cogs. The chain
is Sedis. The handlebar tape is brand-new Cinetica cork. The leather saddle is a Brooks. The brake lever hoods are brand-new Dia-Compes, but correct Shimano ones are available.
The bike is in very nice shape. I bought it from the original owner. The frame is straight and has NO dents. The paint does have some scratches, and some of those were touched-up by the original owner. The components are in excellent shape and have NO crash-rash. The hubs have been disassembled, cleaned and repacked. The wheels are staight. Arent those high-flange hubs sexy? It does have vertical dropouts and plenty of room for fenders. Wouldnt a set of black Bluemels look great?
