Hi Eric, When it is not panto'ed it might be screen printed. An old fashioned printer should be able to do it when you have a sample of the Gios Script. Sometimes the also print a special kind of decal which is then applied and has to be baked, the same method is used for printing on glass like in beer steins and such. But it is hard to tell without a detailed picture. The rims are imho either GL 440 or SSC models, those were the models I remember having that white or yellow Mavic sticker. Very expensive rims at the day. I used to select GP 4 ob my first bike which looked similiar but did not have those stickers and were affordable. We then used to order separate sticker at Bruegelmann, the large german mil order house and but them on our GP 4s to get that pro-look.

so i've decided that this is the year to restore/rejuvinate/refurbish/whatever you want to call it, my 82 Gios Super record. i have a black anodized gios stem, like the one in this picture - http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/gios81/1.jpg - but the black is a bit discolored or faded in spots, it's got a few scratches too and has these white streaks that look like paint on it. I'ld like to get the black, black again. the problem with getting it reanodized is that it looks like "Original Gios" is painted on the sides and is in pretty good shape. the lettering is not panto'd or a decal but looks really painted on. how did they paint those on with consistency? i can't imagine that someone sat there and hand painted/signed each side of the stems before they went out.

any suggestions on how to get this looking better?

Eric Acuna Santa Rosa, CA

PS - can someone identify what rims are used in the picture above? i see

"MAVIC" on them, but what model?

Thanks.
