Subject: [CR]Cottered Alloy Cranks

Michael,

I thought I was the only person who had alloy cranks with cotter pins. They came on my 1951 Chemineau. I replaced them with a TA crankset because the left one is bent, and I do not know if it is possible to straighten it. I was concerned, also, with it being too weak to support any serious cranking up our New England hills. I still have the original cranks, and would love to either find a replacement left one, or find out how to have it repaired. They are clearly labled "Maxiplume", and "leger solide", as well as "inoxydable", and the back says "duralumin-forge" and "A. Duprat" I have a picture on my Webshots site http://community.webshots.com/user/tenordl

If you or anyone on the list has more information on cottered cranks, I would like to learn more about them.
