Subject: [CR]32 rim 40 hub followup

I wrote the other day looking for ideas on how to build up a 32 hole wood rim on a 40 hole hub. I took Mark Bulgier's suggestion, but did it slightly scientifically. I drew the hub and rim on paper full scale, marked where the spoke holes should be, connected the dots, and measured. By averaging I came out with some pretty good numbers. Turned out I could build the wheel with 3 lengths of spoke. Half were the normal length for 32 hole, 1/4 were +4 mm, and 1/4 were -4mm. Worked out perfectly the first time and the wheel is round and true. Probably that + or - 4 could work on any hub and rim combination, at least for 3 cross wheels.
