Of course should have been:
Indeed it holds the chain when the rear wheel with the complete Paris
Roubaix mechanism
is removed. Unlike normal bikes where the derailleur still holds the
chain when the rear wheel is removed, the chain of a P.-R. equipped bike
would hang loose to the ground and you would have to fiddle around with
it more when reinserting the wheel without this hanger.
