Galmozzi frame-fork-chainset went upto 3750.00. A nice Italian bike?

This certain frame has been HOT RODded? The internal cable and water bottle mount are NOT original, of course a neat repaint/laqure job...

One of our member, if I may posted, John Waner bought one last year whihc was quite high price I thought, but what makes Galmozzi to polular and highly soughted in the US?

Cinelli-Masi, those two top Italian bikes, polularity has been known very well, but what is about Galmozzi?"

The internal top tube able is most definitely original. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind about this. As far as the bottle braze-ons, I too believe these to be subsequent additions at the time of the repaint, but I would want to see them in person first to be able to comment with any degree of certainty. All Italian bikes from the mid-60's and earlier with bottle braze-ons that I have seen seem to have used non-traditional ways of fitting these. This mainly because there were no bottle cages with pre-drills for fitting. I have seen bottle cages brazed straight onto the frames, brazed on bolts and brazed on threaded bolts. I most certainly have not seen drilled holes with reinforcement diamonds which seems to be the solution adopted on the auction bike.

As for Galmozzi bikes, I own one that you can see here: http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/maasland/1975-Galmozzi/ and I can honestly say that it is one of the best riding bikes that I have ever owned. It certainly rides nicer than most similar period Masi or Cinelli bikes that I have ridden. The bottle braze-ons are simple brazed on bolts.
