Hi CR folks,

Plugs for my favorite builders...

I was visiting Mark Nobilette (he lives about 25miles from me) and he is working on a mighty interesting Randonneur frame. In addition to cool workmanship and nifty "normal" features, this one is of a unique "Demontable" (take-apart) design that is kinda like a cross between a Ritchey and a Rene Herse design. It is mighty cool to say the least - and the bike is 650b to boot.

He is also working on a frame that features his handmade lugs. Both frames will be "naked" so be prepared to give them a close inspection.

Mark's background as a machinist is a real bonus when working on these types of bikes. As I've said all along, there are many cool steel bikes yet to be made. Mark can do many amazing things so easily, it is as though he was a reincarnated builder from the Herse shop. He was doing racks, assorted machined parts, and handmade lugs well before they came into vogue again most recently.

In the meantime, I can't go to the handmade show as I'm going to spend 4 days riding the Weigle 700c Randonneur bike (which is an amazing bike and represents the BEST modern bike purchase I've ever made) at the Moab Skinny Tire Festival. Next year, though, on 650b!

And when money permits, and his schedule frees up, I'll need that Baylis AeroTour!
