And more recently Credit Agricol and Liquigas. I don't think the Europeans ever shared the superstition about green cars, let alone bikes. I think this was pretty much an American Indy car/stock car thing. Just as no US men's cycling team would wear pink jerseys, but it didn't bother Telecom or Mercier or the organizers of the Giro. I have read, however, that in the 50's the European Formula 1 or sports car grids never included a car number 13, nor even any number that was a multiple of 13. Superstitions and the connotations of colors are obviously very culturally specific.
