Subject: [CR]Some classic frames and bikes on French Ebay

Are you State-side CR Listers falling asleep at the monitor? Usuall y there are several Listers who alert the rest of us to the goodies that ke ep turning up on French Ebay..and yet this week there has not been a peep o ut of any of you..and all that while some great looking stuff has been AND GONE AND SOME IS STILL AVAILABLE.

Just gone is a 1970s 55cms Alex Singer randonneur frame with all th e braze-ons for lights, luggage dynamo etc etc Seller claims it had been bu ilt for Ernest Csuka's brother in law. The frame in a sort of orangey-red f lam with chrome ends has some interesting looking lugs. Condition looked to be very good. Anyhow it's too late..and it has gone for only 700 euros whi ch seems little money for such a nice frame. None of the bidder's names was given ..just this new business of Bidder No 1 No2 etc..so who knows it cou ld be heading your way after all.Item No 120097737820

Next up is a modern French classic bike in the making. from one of Franc e's top builders, Philippe of Blois. He is still building and turning out s ome excellent stuff..very much hand-built alloys and carbons these days. He has a web-site too.

However the bike at Item No120097737820 is a 57x57 Columbus Genius frame d steel creation. I think it is lugged but would not be surprised if it is lugless. Probably dating from the early 90s this machine has a build-up mix of Campag, Sachs and Mavic..It's class..as all Philippe's frames are. Star ting price with about 16 hours to go is only 200 euros..an absolute steal.. with no bids to date.

The seller will not send outside France but I shall be in France from Ap ril 3 for about seven weeks and would be pleased to receive the bike if any one wants to buy it and have it sent to me for onward despatch.

Next up..and the same offer applies is another rare classic..a frame thi s time. At size 53 cms it is one of Andre Sabliere's aluminium frames from, I would guess the early 80s. All cables run inside the frame and I t hink the gear cable might even pass through the rear drop-out. A frame almo st identical to this one..same size.. was then toast of the 1980 Paris Show . Built up with Zeus 2000 groupset it weighed in at less than 15 lbs.

Sabliere was a sheer genius at building alloy frames long before the Tai wanese started knocking them out. The quality of the polished beads is exce ptional. I reckon that in a few years time these Sablieres will be as sough t after as any BARRA..and they will have the advantage of not being dented or cracked unlike several BARRAs that I have seen recently

Unfortunately none of these bikes or frames are my size or I would not have been giving this info out to the LIst!!!

At 450 euros including chainset , the frame is not exactly cheap but mus t be a bargain for this type of quality..and rarity. Item 270099793726. Sab liere is still about but unfortuantely he has hung up his torch and has ,mo ved into computers.
