You will not find these in an average hardware store. 9/16-20 isn't National Coarse or National Fine (it's a National Special). Plus, you'd need right- and left-handed versions. A die this size isn't very cheap, either.

Most good bike shops will have the two pedal taps, but I doubt if they'll have the dies. McMaster-Carr or MSC will have them.

You could also pick up a thread-chasing file, do it carefully with a jeweler's file, or create yourself a makeshift die with an old steel crankarm (file a tapping feature then harden with heat and quench). It all depends on how bad the whole situation is. How'd it get munged, anyway? ...it's hard to do so with an aluminum crank.

I have a campy pedal that seems to have slightly mangled treads. Is there a readily available (9/16th??) die that I can use to clean up the treads? Can I get the die at my local hardware store?
