As cotton hadnlebar tape is getting scarcer and scarcer, I went on Ebay in the dressmaker's supply section, and ordered some 1" herringbone twill tape. It comes in a 60 yard roll for twenty bucks or so, in any color, and other than the lack of sticky stuff on the back, is indistinguishable from Cateye cotton.
As to actually using the stuff, well, um, ahem, if haven't exactly gotten around to trying it. I'm guessing that contact cement or even rubber cement brushed on the back and allowed to dry ought to work.
