The date was based on the purchase date from the original owner, who said he bought it "sometime around 1960" but didn't remember exactly when -- he ordered it custom through the Bike Rack in St. Charles, IL and then raced it at Northbrook (as well as Batavia and Geneva) throughout the 1960s-early 1970s. The 1950s part was suggested by the vintage of the 531 transfer, which Reynolds stopped producing sometime in the early-mid 1950s, as I understand it.

The lug treatment and paint patterns do look similar to the "Campione del Mondo" track sprint model in the catalogue [1] on Marc Bulgier's site, but the lugs on mine have more scrollwork/detail on the portion of the head lugs that extends onto the seat/downtubes -- though the scrollwork that extends onto the headtube looks very similar. Unfortunately, very hard to say!

I'm not trying to say it's older than it actually is, this is just the information I have at hand.
