Hi Randy,

You bring up some good memories for me...

I think the cranks were made by Sugino, the Bottom brackets and Headsets by Hatta and the Pedals by MKS. Bottle cages by Minoura Tires by National Tire Company (Panaracer)

There were several trade groups in Japan, the article 'sunset for suntour' covers this period in history.

find the article here: http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~hadland/page35.htm

Regarding other Specialized parts from that era ('81 - '84 -ish), here's what I think as far as who made what:

Bars / Stems - Nitto Cranks / BB - Suntour Alloy Toe Clips / Leather Toe Straps - ALE (or is it Ale, or A.L.E.?) Frames - 3Rensho (Allez), Panasonic, Miyata (Allez SE); Serotta, Merz, Neenan (low-volume stuff) Pedals - Suntour

Anyone know who made the:

Headsets? (Tange?) Bottle Cages? Tires? Bar Tape?

Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of these attributions!

Good luck with the auctions, Randy Dugan Van Nuys, CA USA

I just happen to have some alternates to Campagnolo on ebay right now.

I'm selling them for a friend who is cleaning out his shop's back room.

Check out all the auctions here:

There is a set of NOS Specialized sealed bearing hubs. I remember many

people bought these instead of Campagnolo becaused of the fact that they

had sealed bearings and were believed to need much less maintenance. I

believe they were made by Suntour. They have a nice shiny surface too

(not as shiny as Eric Elman's mirrorized hubs but shiny nonetheless.
