Schwinn measured these from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube (they started doing this on the Electro-Forged bikes as well in 1971 -- that is why those bike's frame "sizes" gained an inch, but the frame stayed the same size).

The fillet-brazed Superior (of that type?) was made in '62-'63 as well as '76 - 78. There was a limited edition reissue of left-over Super Sport frames in '79 known as the Sport Limited that had Superior parts and a cotterless alloy Le Tour crank (with BB adapter).
