Consider that the rear dropouts on track bikes are rearward facing, then that the non-qr wheels are bolted on: isn't this like wearing a belt AND suspenders to keep your pants on?

Around here, the road surfaces are so pocked with holes, cracks and general crud that there's plenty of added shock value to any ride. Then factor in the stresses of high speed descent cornering, weaving around cars, accelerating and braking through traffic...I dunno, a velodrome track seems positively pristine smooooth by comparison!
