Hello! My name is Anya Vasilis, I am a twenty-one year old (youngster, sure) resident of Gainesville, Florida (formerly of Pittsburgh, PA and Athens, Greece.) Both my older brother and I have been fascinated with bicycles since a very early age, although he has gravitated towards the latest trends in full-suspension downhill mountain bikes and I have headed into the realm of the more elegant road and track machines - ideally those who predate myself! (I can't always be the tag-along little sister!)
Unable to focus on my scholarly endeavors at this point, I am currently on hiatus in sunny Florida working as a bicycle mechanic and enjoying my three current "children" - a Bianchi and Cannondale of more modern persuasion, and my beloved 1980's Medici track bike that rides so well that the other two are collecting dust (I still can't get over how the action in that old Superbe-Pro headset easily rivals that of the Chris King on my Bianchi.)
By joining this list I hope to learn more about vintage bikes and the people who love them. I would also like to collect as many precious tidbits of information that could be offered about my track bike (I'm more than willing to share specs and pictures.) And I would especially love to learn more about the art of frame building and hopefully someday I can contribute to the population of elegant, well-built lugged frames in this world of mass-produced "bore-cycles" - perhaps some useful networking can be done(?)
